If your child's age permits it, you can use a peak flow meter to measure how well his or her breathing behaves. The marker on the tubular peak flow meter stops when you have reached your maximum blowing capacity and the results should be marked on a chart. This will help the doctor determine if your child has asthma or if there are other breathing problems involved. Child asthma is a potentially dangerous condition and extra care has to be taken with children suffering from it.

Some children who have child asthma do grow out of it, while others don't. Exactly why this happens is still a mystery and asthma organizations all over the world are doing research on this subject.
